Here are just a few great ideas for sporting events you can host to help support the Alzheimer’s Association’s fight to end Alzhemer’s disease.
- Run a marathon
- Or, choose your own adventure – canoe, run, hike – and ask participants to collect donations.
- Yoga or tai chi class
- Ask the instructors to donate their time and charge participants an entry fee.
- Bowl-a-thon
- Sell tickets and ask for a donation from bowlers for every strike.
- Basketball, baseball or softball tournament
- Charge an entry fee per team and “pass the hat” among spectators.
- Organize a bike race
- Charge an entry fee per rider.
- Darts tournament
- Host it in a local bar and have teams compete to raise the most funds. Have volunteers bartend and donate their tips.
- Plan a car rally
- Charge an entry fee per car. Have a “car wash for the cause” after the event and collect donations.
- Hold a kayak or canoe race
- Charge an entry fee and ask spectators to donate in support of their favorite paddler. Ask a local sports store for a donation of prizes and award them to the winners.
