We are committed to help end Alzheimer's disease. And you can help!

In 2010, Greg Bolt's grandmother Julia Sparks died after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He is running in honor of his grandmother and he wanted to build a team to run races and raise $2,000 for the Alzheimer's Association of Oregon. He wanted 2011 to be a Year of Memories.

Brad Bailey and his son, Jake, jumped at the chance to join the team to run in honor of Brad's wife's mother. They've already run one race and are preparing for the 10K in 6 weeks.

In order to achieve our goal we'll need more help, a bigger team of people who are dedicated to run, walk, crawl across finish lines and people to support, raise money and cheerlead our team.

The plan in a nutshell is this: Run a 5K in March (Lucky Clover 5K in Eugene, March 19), a 10K in May (Solaire Salmon Run, May 7), a half marathon in July (Smith Rock Sunrise Summer Classic, July 9) and a marathon in October (Portland Marathon, October 9).

This is the team page so that people can donate online. Greg will also take care of any other donations so that they all get to the right place.

What we need from you? We need your legs, your energy and your expertise. We have run all the distances except a marathon (Greg walked the Portland in 2009). Our hope is that we will be able to get together for some training runs and maybe even get a team shirt to wear while we run the races to bring awareness to our cause.

We hope you will consider participating in the Year of Memories and we can create some great memories of our own and raise money to allow others to help cure the horrible disease of Alzheimer's.

There will more details to come as we move through the year. Feel free to invite anyone you think would be interested in joining us.
